What’s Next for Bears Deluxe
Bears Deluxe has had an incredible journey so far, beginning with a stealth mint at .01 (and no whitelisting) the project has grown into something bigger and more special than we could have imagined. To help our community understand some of our next steps this article will outline what you can expect from us in the future.
I. VX Bears
As an official partner project of The Sandbox we will be releasing a collection of voxel assets. Voxels are essentially 3D pixels used to build models and look like cubes. The models can be used as controllable avatars within metaverses such as The Sandbox. Every owner of an original Bears Deluxe will have the ability to claim a 1:1 match of their bear in voxel form. There will also be additional voxels with unseen traits available in this collection. We anticipate this collection to be ready by April 15th, 2022.
In addition to Sandbox, these assets will be usable in one of our upcoming gaming releases. The team is also working on other experiences and games to integrate voxel bears into.
II. Bears Deluxe: The Quest for Nectar!
The Quest for Nectar will be an on-chain game intended to provide a robust, gamified economy for the HONEYD token. Participants will be able to play for chances to win merchandise and other IRL items, unique 1:1 NFTs, HONEYD Token, and a special new token called NECTAR!
Backstory
The Bears Deluxe had lived peacefully for generations in a village so deep in the forgotten forest many thought it didn’t even exist. Tales of their magic honey that could be used to create art and otherworldly experiences spread throughout the land and had become folklore and commonplace as bedtime stories for children around the world. This magic honey was coveted by society at large, but also sought after by dark forces…
An evil sorcerer by the name Dolo sought the magic honey for himself. He developed a plan to steal the source of the bear’s honey so he could produce amazing works of art and sell them to villagers and become rich beyond his wildest dreams. Dolo set out to build an empire where he could produce eternal life and wealth with magic honey.
Dolo launched his attack on Bear Valley and stole a great relic — the bear’s precious HPU (Honey Production Unit). During the attack most of the village was destroyed, leaving it needing to be rebuilt. The resources needed to build the village back to its former glory were now scarce, scattered across the world, and rare to come by as the evil sorcerer Dolo ordered his minions to pillage the lands and demanded heavily armed guards and traps to guard the stolen HPU. The bears, once innocent and prosperous, found their way of life and village devastated and lost hope.
In the wake of the devastation, a mysterious figure appeared at the village and offered help. He called himself the Honey Merchant, and claimed to know Dolo’s weakness. Although unsure of his intentions, the bears felt trusting that the Honey Merchant was their only hope. The Honey Merchant revealed to the bears that Dolo had broken much of their honey down into its primitive form “Nectar”, and secured that nectar around the world in hidden locations. The merchant said he could develop tools to fight Dolo’s forces and rebuild Bear Valley using the Nectar, as he believed he could harness its latent magic potential. The Honey Merchant encouraged the bears to begin rebuilding and devised a plan to take back their most precious relic, the Honey Production Unit.
As Dolo’s forces are powerful, the merchant suggested he create mimics of the bears to journey in their place (VX Bears) as well as soldiers to go with them (Bees Deluxe). The bears accept the battle plan, and the quest begins…
Gameplay
Players will traverse a map to find Nectar in various regions. Player’s will form parties consisting of VX Bears and Bees Deluxe.
Players will roll virtual dice to move around the map. Players must burn HONEYD to roll the dice. Players can burn variable amounts of honey for a chance at a larger roll. To encourage newcomers into our ecosystem, each VX Bear in a party enables one free daily roll.
Some spaces may have randomized events, such as combat, teleportation, or vendors to buy items. Some regions will require specific inventory items or achievements obtained from the honey merchant to enter. For instance, a “Danger Point” above could not be passed unless combat is successful. Items obtained from the honey merchant can increase chances of success at randomized events.
Nectar
Nectar is a token that parties can acquire at endpoints and during special events. The Honey Merchant will provide parties with special items in exchange for different quantities of Nectar. Nectar is held in a party’s inventory and is then claimed to the party owner’s wallet at safe points. Nectar can be lost in high risk situations that occur on “Danger” spaces.
Nectar is pooled into different endpoints on the map periodically. This is the main source of Nectar. Nectar is also found on the map on random travel points, and can also be dropped by enemies after successful combat.
Honey Jars
Honey Hives Deluxe NFT’s will begin producing consumable items called “Honey Jars”. Sun Honey, Mystic Cave Honey, Tropical Honey, Desert Honey, and Rainbow Honey accrue over time and can be obtained from their respective hives in the form of filled Honey Jars. Honey Jars are consumed by a party during an event and increase the chances of a beneficial outcome.
Honey Merchant
The Honey Merchant is a nomadic vendor whose location on the map can change as different nectar pools are added. The Honey Merchant sells many things, which include treasure chests, keys, and special weapons, and other undisclosed items. (Treasure Chests can contain, HONEYD, Special NFTs, NFTs redeemable for IRL merchandise, and items to be used in the game.)
Periodically the Nectar collected by the Honey Merchant will be burned and he will rebuild crucial pieces of Bear Valley. This will unlock unique experiences for bears!
The Honey Merchant also exists outside of the Bears Deluxe game, where he has a different set of wares. He will always accept Nectar but will also accept HONEYD for non-game items.

III. Gaming Beyond The Quest for Nectar
The Bears Deluxe team is fully committed to creating frictionless gaming experiences to onboard those new to cryptocurrency of NFTs. This includes NFT Paint (a browser based DAPP that will allow users to create paintings and mint them as NFTs) and retro gaming experiences (showcased our hungry bear beta releases) that will integrate into the blockchain and provide unique experiences to users with HONEYD.
